Praying Through Pregnancy - Week 19

Praying Through Pregnancy - Week 19

Welcome! If you’re pregnant or want to pray along with an expecting friend or family member, you’re in the right place. Pray along with us as we cover developmental milestones, scripture and prayers for each week of pregnancy.

Week 19

During week 19 of pregnancy, your little one is the size of a mango. Your baby’s arms and legs are now proportional to the rest of his or her body, and the bronchioles (the main airways) are starting to develop in your baby’s lungs. A waxy-like coating of vernix caseosa is forming which moisturizes your baby’s skin and helps prevent it from being wrinkled at birth.

So much goes into a name. Some parents have known their baby’s name since before he or she was conceived, while others prefer to wait until their precious little one is born to officially give a name. If you are beginning to search for baby names, here are some ideas to consider:

  • Meaningful Names: Consider names that have a special meaning or significance to you, such as the name of a beloved family member or a name that reflects your heritage.
  • Biblical or Traditional Names: These names are long-lasting and rarely go out of style.
  • While searching for names, consider visiting a website like NameBerry, which lists popular and unique names and also tells the name’s meaning.

Scripture: Ephesians 6:14-17

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Prayer: Protection

Dear God,
I come before You today with a heart full of gratitude for the precious gift of life growing inside of me. I thank You for this miraculous blessing, for the joy and hope it brings, and for the opportunity to witness Your hand at work in the world.
Lord, I am grateful for the Armor of God, which You have provided to protect us. I pray You would wrap Your loving arms around my unborn child, that You would shield him or her from harm, and that You would surround this little one with Your unbreakable protection.
May my little one grow up wearing Your belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and sword of Your spirit.
I pray that my child will grow up to know and love You. Please give me the strength and wisdom to guide my child in the paths of righteousness, to teach him or her Your truth, and to be a living example of Your love.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
